Treasurer Position
Overview and Requirements
The Rudder Association is seeking a volunteer treasurer that demonstrates honesty and integrity, a desire to serve, and a commitment to excellence which are essential Aggie Core Values.
Key duties of the position include: knowing debits and credits, how to reconcile bank balances and other financial records, how to prepare non-profit financial statements (or can learn quickly) and knowing how to find and fix any errors.
The categories on tax returns - especially for expenditures - are an important part of classifying transactions. In addition to traditional objective categories like telephone and office supplies, the tax records need to additionally track expenditures for programs, fund raising, membership, and administrative expenditures. Each of these tax categories may have office supplies, for example, depending on why the expense occurred.
Other Duties Include:
-
Cut checks to vendors promptly.
-
Attend strategic planning meetings in College Station, TX (January) to assist in forming a budget for the year.
-
Attend annual TRA members meeting in College Station, TX (March) to operate the Square POS machine to receive membership payments.
-
Give a short 5-10 minute report to members at the meeting.
-
Attend scheduled monthly board meetings via Zoom.
-
Scan membership documents and receipts received from TRA Office Manager.
Time requirements are more demanding at the beginning of the calendar year due to online and mail in membership drives. The rest of the year is a steady flow of online membership transactions with some mail in memberships.
We consider any Aggie who meets these requirements and is willing to serve in the capacity of a valuable team member that can help TRA further its mission! We defend and perpetuate the core values of respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity, and selfless service at Texas A&M. You would also help provide a voice for Aggies who honor its Values, Traditions and Culture. The Rudder Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, fiscally sound and the outgoing treasurer will be available for training and consultation.
